Richard married 2nd Nettie (BASS) GRAVES 31 Mar 1911, Marion County, Illinois. He was 33 and she was 26. Her first husband was Noble GRAVES
On 18 Jun 1900, the census shows Richard (22) and Laura (21) McWHIRTER living in Tonti Township, Marion County, Illinois. No children yet. Richard was a farmer. They had been married for a year.
On 22 Apr 1910, the census shows the widowed Richard C. McWHIRTER age 33, living in Sharon Township, Fayette County, Illinois. With him were his children Jessie age 9; Orville R. age 8; Ora E. age 6; Myrl R. age 5; and Mildred F. age 3. Also living with him was his sister, Cora and her husband Sam WRIGHT.
On 31 Mar 1911, Richard married Nettie.
On 12 Sep 1918, Richard McWHIRTER entered into the United States Military. His address was listed as Ramsey, Fayette County, Illinois. He was listed as a farmer and that his wife was Nettie McWHIRTER. His height is listed as tall, skin as fair and hair as dark.
On 3 Jan 1920, the census shows Richard (44) and Nettie (35) McWHIRTER living in Sharon Township, Fayette County, Illinois. With them are their children Orville age 17; Ora age 16; Myrel age 14; Glen age 8; Lois age 6; and Pearl age 4 years and 11 months. Also with them were Nettie's two children from previous marriage Ruth GRAVES age 16; and Mersheline GRAVES age 11. Richard was a farmer.
On 2 Apr 1930, the census shows R. C. (52) and Nettie (45) McWHIRTIER living in Sharon Township, Fayette County, Illinois. With them were children Glen age 18; Lois J. age 17; Pearl age 15; Kenneth E. age 9; and Luella M. age 6. They also had a black hired hand Ewing SEATON age 58. Richard was a farmer.

5. Mildred F. McWHIRTER, born 3 Dec 1906, Illinois. She died Feb 1971. Last place of residence was Winfield, DuPage County, Illinois.
Mildred married Forest BASS. He was the son of J. H. BASS of Kinmundy.
Forest worked for the Union Dairy of St. Louis and delivered to over 500 costumers daily.

Ora E. "Doc" McWHIRTER, born 29 Dec 1903, Illinois, son of Richard C. and Laura J. (BOAZ) McWHIRTER. He died 20 Oct 1979. Last place of residence was Vandalia, Fayette County, Illinois.
Doc married 1st Vallene "Vallie" CEARLOCK. She was the daughter of Edward "Ed" and Mary Elizabeth (HICKS) CEARLOCK. Vallie died shortly after giving birth to Donald, their only child. She was about 18 years of age.
Doc married 2nd Marjorie SMITH 12 Oct 1935, Vandalia, Fayette County, Illinois. She was born 14 Jun 1910, Hagarstown, Illinois. She died 14 January 1991, Chandler, Arizona.
Doc owned a garage in Vandalia. (Note: My mother, Monna (CONANT) FRAKES, took my grandmother, Grace (BASSETT) CONANT, up there for a visit once and she remembers the garage.)
Whe Marjorie died, the only child mentioned was her step-son, Donald.

On 10 Apr 1930, the census shows Edward (60) and Mary E. (60) CEARLOCK living in Sugar Grove Township, Kane County, Illinois. They and their parents were both said to have been born in Illinois. Edward was a farmer. They were renting their home. With them was their grandson, Donald age 6, born Illinois.
Donald lived with his maternal grandparents until their deaths circa 1935. He then lived with his father and step-mother.
In 1991, at the time of Donald's stepmother's death, he was living in Oak View, California.
